take the jump events

Anyone can put on a Take the Jump event!

With our communities, friends, colleagues or networks. Maybe you want to give a talk to you colleagues, or you are part of a local group who’d like to put on an event for members of your wider community? Or maybe you’d like to offer practical help to local people in making sustainable changes?

There have already been a wide range of Take the Jump events such as, talks, stalls, workshops, community fairs, film nights, clothes swaps, plant based cook-ins, repair shops and more.

Below are resources to inspire and help with different types of event.

HOW TO DO IT

If you’re interested in putting on an event,

  1. Think about why you’re interested and what you’d like to do

  2. Check the below list for ideas and resources

  3. If you like, get in touch with us and see if we can help with the event, (publicity, delivery and linking you up with others who are near by or have done something similar before) at team@takethejump.org

  4. Make sure you post it on the Take the Jump HUB so people know it’s coming

  5. Host your event

  6. Share about it on the HUB and social media so it can be an inspiration for others thinking about hosting their own event

RESOURCES TO HELP WITH EVENTS

Talks and presentations

Speeches - Standard text to use as inspiration if you are giving a speech or talk about Take the Jump

Presentations - Three presentations anyone can use in communicating with groups about Take the Jump.

Workshops

Workshops are a great way to engage people, bring them together, help people learn new things and most of all have fun!

Click here to access different workshop plans we often use at Take the Jump.

Posters

Posters - We have many beautifully designed posters that you are free to download and print. Available in many different sizes, and for different purposes, some focusing on the shifts, others on the Foundations, others on how to contact and engage with Take the Jump, others mainly just beautiful artwork to brighten up your space.

Stalls and community fairs

Images - Lots of supplementary graphics and images for use in events and online

Flyers - Take the Jump flyers for printing and handing out at events.

Game night

Take the Jump has our very own and very fun board game that people can get together to play. The game and all you need to play it can be found here!

Repair shops

Make your much loved appliances, furniture, clocks, watches, bikes, clothes and tools last much longer and learn how to repair them from experts who are delighted to share their knowledge and experience with others. Here’s a link with lots of resources and examples: https://www.repaircafe.org/

Clothes swaps

A great way to bring people together and make use of the unwanted clothes in your community. One persons trash is another person treasure! Here’s a guide to organising one.

Film nights

A great way to have a low-key gathering with a purpose is to put on a film night in a local space. You can watch a programme, film or documentary related to sustainable change, and then have some time together discussing what the film brought up for you.

For ideas for films related to the six shifts, check our the ‘How-to’ guides for each shift, towards the end of some there is a list of films, documentaries, books, podcasts and TED talks that you could use for your session. All six can be found in the Help with the Six Shifts page.
